The City of Winter Haven Downtown Compactor was implemented to improve solid waste collection efficiency within the downtown core while reducing truck traffic, noise, and operational disruptions in a highly active urban environment. The facility is strategically located to support downtown businesses and events while maintaining compatibility with surrounding infrastructure and public spaces.
Carter and Kaye Engineering, LLC (CarterKaye) provided civil engineering design and permitting services for the onsite infrastructure supporting the downtown compactor facility. Our scope included coordination and design of utility connections, stormwater management features, and associated site improvements necessary to integrate the facility into the existing downtown streetscape.
Given the constrained nature of the site, infrastructure solutions were designed to work within limited space while maintaining regulatory compliance and long-term functionality. Through coordination with the City of Winter Haven and the project team, CarterKaye delivered infrastructure improvements that support reliable downtown operations and enhance the overall efficiency of municipal services.
