Performed planning, engineering, plan preparation, agency coordination, permitting, and construction oversight for regional stormwater management and water quality improvement systems. Improvements included the rehabilitation or reconstruction of existing lakes, ponds, and previously altered wetland areas to increase storage, improve circulation and filtration, reduce nutrient enrichment and eutrophication, and enhance aquatic habitat. Systems incorporated combinations of waterbody deepening, liners, pumping, filtration, gravity return, native plantings, water quality monitoring, and other site-specific treatment measures.
Designed artificial treatment wetlands using surface flow, subsurface up-flow, and horizontal-flow treatment processes. Wetland systems incorporated locally adapted plant communities, engineered substrates, geotextiles, and nutrient-sorbing media to reduce nutrients, suspended matter, bacteria, and other pollutants. Designs integrated hydraulic circulation between lakes, ponds, wetlands, and downstream receiving systems while supporting habitat creation, ecological restoration, public education, and recreational access where appropriate.
